Pavel Kovtunec is a management and communication specialist whose life has always been closely connected with Lithuanian sports. In the past, he held the positions of vice president of the Lithuanian Boxing Federation and president of the Kickboxing Federation, also worked as a sports talents manager, until he experienced an unexpected blow in life.
The early morning of an ordinary day in September 2021, turned into a nightmare. Pavel did not understand what was happening when he was no longer able to control his body and suddenly began to lose the ability to speak. Doctors soon diagnosed him with stage three Lyme disease. The prognosis for the future was very harsh: even if the treatment would be successful, he would have to use a wheelchair.
After drastic treatment with strong medications, the disease not only weakened the body but also resulted in numbness in his legs (polyneuropathy). There was only a very small chance that he would ever walk again. But desire and self-belief worked wonders. The innate character of a fighter and a strong desire to return to a full life helped Pavel to recover. Intensive work day after day allowed him to recover, both physically and psychologically. Two years later, Pavel began to walk without aids. And while the scars of his fate will follow him for the rest of his life, those who don't know his story often overlook that he still has mobility issues.
After this ordeal, Pavel dedicated himself to helping other people. He wants to inspire others not to give up by his example. He is responsible for social activities in the "Wolves" team, especially targeted work in helping war-weary Ukraine and the people of this country.
