Famed LT director Emilis Vėlyvis joins the BC Wolves as latest club ambassador

Emilis Vėlyvis, one of the most famous Lithuanian directors and screenwriters, has just been announced as the newest club ambassador of the Vilnius-based BC Wolves.

Joining the Lavrinovic twins (Ksistof and Darjus), Sergej Maslobojev, Vytautas Medineckas a.k.a. Ironvytas, Simas Kučas, and Pavel Kovtunec, he is the first publicly known Wolves representative who has no direct connection to the sporting world.

Winner of four Lithuanian National Silver Crane Awards, E. Vėlyvis became famous after the 2006 release of his film "Zero" which attracted international attention. The sequels of this film and the release of the movie "Redirected", in which one of the main roles was played by famous British and Hollywood actor Vinnie Jones, became even more popular among audiences.

Having made his name famous in the category of black comedies, the director later demonstrated his talent in detective and fantasy genres and has also successfully directed a slew of TV series.

"Emilis is not only a unique personality capable of holding people's attention in cinema screens or in arenas, but also someone who has accumulated exceptional experience working with world-class professionals. We are very happy that he has joined our group of ambassadors and will be able to enrich the club's creative processes with his talent," said Wolves manager Andrius Žiauberis.

E. Vėlyvis notes that movie production and basketball have many similarities, and so the award-winning director who was recently named as the latest member of BC Wolves ambassadors intends to use his creativity to contribute to the club's goals.

"Movie sets and basketball courts are very similar – in both instances everyone must be extremely accurate and precise, a lot is determined by teamwork, personal talent and the uniqueness of each team member. I am very excited to be joining an innovative and ambitious organization that already has a group of faces that I know very well. Some I have already met on the movie set more than once, so I know how these talented people are coming together to contribute to the club's goals," said E. Vėlyvis.
