The Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius (18-16) were unable to bring home a victory from Kaunas. The capital's team suffered a road loss to Žalgiris (32-2), who extended their dominant run in the Betsafe-LKL by securing their 28th consecutive win, with a final score of 89–75 (20:21, 16:29, 16:23, 23:16).
The Wolves will now continue their battle for 4th–5th place in the standings against 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevėžys (18-16), while CBet Jonava(19-15) sits just one position ahead.
Žalgiris will wrap up the regular season with games against Rytas Vilnius and Šiauliai Casino Admiral, while the Wolves will host CBet and M Basket-Delamode Mažeikiai at home.
The game started evenly, with Žalgiris taking an early 7–5 lead after free throws from Bryant Dunston. Sylvain Francisco added two more points, but Regimantas Miniotas brought the game level at 9–9. The hosts responded with a scoring run to go up 16–9, prompting a timeout from Andrea Trinchieri after Anthony Cowan cut the deficit to 13–16. After the first quarter, the home side led 21–20.
Žalgiris held off the Wolves’ attempts to close the gap at 31–26. Dunston proved dominant and versatile, connecting on a dunk and previously hitting a three-pointer to stretch the lead to 39–26. Kaunas gradually took full control of the game (48–32) and went into halftime with a 50–36 advantage.
The Wolves Twinsbet imports attempted to cut the deficit (44:58) whenever Žalgiris started to pull away, but the hosts kept increasing their lead step by step. Laurynas Birutis pushed the advantage to a commanding 67:47 with a dunk, and the Wolves’ stagnant offense couldn’t bring the game back to life. Time was running out, and Žalgiris secured the win.
