Wolves Twinsbet fans will no longer see import Christian Mekowulu playing for the Vilnius club next season as the Nigerian big man will be leaving the Lithuanian capital's team at the end of his one-year contract. He will be moving to Japan to suit up for the Akita Northern Happinets in the B.League.
Since arriving in Lithuania last summer, the 6'9" center immediately became one of the most important pieces of the Wolves Twinsbet roster. The team sorely lacked his inside presence most notably after he suffered an injury at the start of the playoffs and played sparingly only at partial capacity; C. Mekowulu couldn’t take part in the Wolves' run in the battle for the bronze.
In the recently concluded Betsafe-LKL championship, he played more than half of the games as part of the team's starting five and averaged 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 10.2 EFF while logging 18.5 minutes per outing.
The slotman recorded better numbers in the European Cup ("BKT EuroCup") tournament - 9.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 11.7 EFF per game.
C. Mekowulu played his best game wearing the Wolves Twinsbet jersey in the middle of the season, when he scored 20 points, made all 10 of his free throws, and logged 26 EFF points in the match against BC Žalgiris of Kaunas.
Wolves Twinsbet club thanks the basketball player for his work throughout the season and his contribution to the team's victories, and wishes him good luck in the future stops of his career.
